Dead
Guy in an Envelope
The alarm clock goes off to
my favorite radio station – Mix 106.5.
The DJ says, who’s your guess for “Dead Guy In The
Envelope”? The caller
says “Walt Disney”. “Walt
Disney is correct”!! Then
I wake up. Weird.
I just dreamt that my favorite contest “Dead Guy In The
Envelope” on my favorite radio station was won with the answer Walt
Disney. Of course it was
just a dream. I thought
about my dream briefly and decided, I’d try to call in and my guess
would be Walt Disney…I mean, come on, what are the odds that I’d be
right?
Let me give you a
little background on this contest. It all started when one of the DJ’s on the morning show
dreamt that a dead celebrity was hitting on his wife.
He decided that he would use that dead celebrity to start a new
contest…Dead Guy In The Envelope.
There would be no clues other than it was a male celebrity who
was dead. The only people
who knew the dead celebrity’s identity were the DJ and a Notary Public
who had notarized the celebrity name which was sealed in an envelope. Once the original dead guy was guessed (River Phoenix) the
other two morning show DJ’s decided that they wanted revenge for
having to wait and see along with the listening audience who this dead
celebrity was. So, there
was Dead Guy 2…again, no clues, the two DJ’s and the Notary Public
were the only ones who knew who the new dead celebrity was.
It’s Friday October
13th. I’m
driving to work, listening to the radio.
It’s pretty close to 9am when the morning show ends so I call
the radio station to inquire about the contest, as they hadn’t
announced that it was time to call in.
The phone rings “Mix 1065”.
“I’m calling about Dead Guy In The Envelope…it’s getting
late and you haven’t played yet.”
“Would you like to play?” “Sure!” “Can you stay on hold
for about five minutes?” “Absolutely!!”
“OK, what’s your name?”
“Stephanie” “OK Stephanie hold on.”
I wait through two and a half songs when they get back on the
phone. “Hi Stephanie, how
are you?” “Good, how
are you?” “Good.
Any big plans for the weekend?”
“I have a wedding on Sunday”
“Yeah, October is a big wedding month.
So, do you have a guess for Dead Guy in the Envelope?’
“Yes, is it Walt Disney?”
“For $1,024.08….so where’s the wedding at?”
“McDaniel College” “Oh,
that should be nice…so, for $1,024.08 the Dead Guy in the Envelope
IS…Walt Disney!!!” Hallelujah music begins playing and I’m sitting at a red
light shaking! Had I really
just won with Walt Disney as my answer?
Yes, I sure did!!! “So
Stephanie, what are you going to do with the money?”
“Actually, I’m going to Disney World on the 21st!” “So Walt’s getting the money?”
“Yup, pretty much!!” “Very
cosmic, kind of”. “This
is the best Friday the 13th ever!!!”
They tell me to hold on again so that they can get some
additional information from me.
I couldn’t believe
it, I’m a Disney Vacation Club member, help with a Disney related
website, and love everything Disney and it just helped me win
$1,024.08!!! Well, I guess
the dream helped too!!! You
know what they say…A dream is a wish your heart makes…
